El Salvador, literally meaning Republic of The Savior, is the smallest and the most densely populated country in Central America. It is currently undergoing rapid industrialization. El Salvador borders the Pacific Ocean between Guatemala and Honduras and lies on the Gulf of Fonseca, as do Honduras and Nicaragua further south.

El Salvador has a population of approximately 6,130,00 people, composed predominantly of mixed biracial Native American/European ancestry and Caucasians (El Salvador is a little bigger than New Hampshire). The capital city of San Salvador is the largest city of the Republic. The colón was the currency of El Salvador from 1892 to 2001, when El Salvador adopted the U.S. Dollar. The people from El Salvador are called Salvadorans and/or Central Americans. The country has a long history, with origins dating back to the Spanish conquest of the Pipil civilized Nation in (Cuzcatlan) which means (The Place of Precious Diamonds and Jewels), so derive from Cuzcatlan, the term Cuzcatlecos is commonly used to identify someone of Salvadorian heritage . The country is also popularly known in Spanish as "La Tierra de Volcanes" which means (The land of Volcanoes) in English, it is also referred as El Pequeno Coloso (The Small Colossus) .
