“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do,
forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
- Philippians 3:13-14
The Lord is at work at this crisis hour in the hearts of young people. Over 900 delegates from 92 different churches attended this year's Youth Congress. Pastor Sexton opened the Congress with a stirring message on the little maid who was used in Naaman's life to bring glory to God. Teenagers were challenged from God's Word to get past their hurts and allow God to use them where they are.
The theme of this year's Youth Congress was "This One Thing I Do." Scott Pauley asked the delegates in the Thursday morning rally to make a commitment to do "one thing" when they went home: to spend some time every day in God's Word and prayer. Dr. Eddie Lapina and Dr. Kenny Baldwin brought powerful messages on giving God everything. Hundreds of young people dedicated themselves to do God's will, with several surrendering their lives to full time Christian ministry.
Dozens of helpful delegate sessions addressed subjects such as: "Social Media and Me", "Defending Your Faith - Hard Questions/Bible Answers", "Preparing for College", and much more. The time with pastors and youth workers in the School of Youth Ministries was especially good. As always, one of the highlights of the Congress was hearing the 300 voice Youth Congress Choir sing each evening.
